On September 24, a delegation from German science and technology sectors of more than 20 personnel visited the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the "TIBCAS"). Prof. TIAN Chaoguang, Deputy Director-General of TIBCAS, the related scientists and Administrative department representatives attended the meeting.
After introducing the science and technology exhibition hall and the core R&D facilities to the delegations, a symposium was hosted. Prof. TIAN Chaoguang gave an introduction to TIBCAS, mainly on its research areas and acheivements, progress on the international cooperation, especially with Germany. He proposed to strengthen international cooperation to address some common global challenges on climate change and food crisis by biotransformation and utilization of carbon dioxide. Prof. ZHU Leilei presented the efforts and progress made by TIBCAS in promoting Sino-German industry-university-research cooperation through the joint center with RWTH Aachen University since its establishment. Mr. René Seyfarth, from the International Office at the RWTH Aachen University introdcued the agenda and purpose of the delegation's visit to China and elaborated his views on the Sino-German S&T collaborations under the current global landscape. The attendees had in-depth exchanges and discussions on strengthening cooperation in the field of biotechnology between China and Germany.
The delegation covers over 10 German organizations including the University of Bonn, Forschungszentrum Jülich, University Bonn, University Heidelberg, Humboldt-Universität Berlin, University of Münster, University of Jena, University of Marburg, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Max-Delbrück-Centers in der HGF, Helmholtz Zentrum, Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, German Aerospace Center and Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung.
