1. Background
Natural product and traditional medicine have played a crucial role in the disease prevention and control. In 2019, the State Council issued Opinions on Facilitating the Inheritance, Innovation and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which has incorporated TCM into a building a community of shared future for mankind and the international cooperation of Belt and Road Initiative, promoting the inheritance and innovation of TCM as well as the high-quality development of TCM industry. At present, highly attentions have been paid to the technological innovation of traditional medicine resources globally. Artemisinin, ginsenoside, and other functional compositions were successfully synthesized by synthetic biotechnology which provided new technical routes for natural product resources of traditional medicine mining and the sustainable growth.
Supported by the China-APEC Cooperation Fund Project, which is launched by the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China in 2021 to support organizations of China for multilateral science, technology and innovation cooperation under the framework of APEC, Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB), Chinese Academy of Sciences is going to organize a conference named “International Symposium on Innovation of Natural Product Resources of Traditional Medicine in the Asia-Pacific Region” during August, 2023 in Tianjin, China. The symposium will focus on the development and application of natural product and traditional medicine resources in the Asia-Pacific region, and invite international and domestic experts and scholars in related fields to introduce the latest research progress and discuss the new trends, to accelerate the communication and cooperation in the field and play an active role in promoting to build a community of common health for mankind.

5. Call for papers
Welcome experts and scholars to submit the detailed abstracts according to topics listed in Article 4 (including but not limited to). The format is shown in the attachment. Potential contributors should be submitted to the following email address: wuxin@tib.cas.cn, and copied to: fengyy@tib.cas.cn before June 15th, 2023 (a word document as the attachment, and the subject of the email should be named in the form of "Symposium + Name + Title"). The Academic Committee will select outstanding abstracts and invite the authors to participate in the symposium to make a presentation. In addition, the symposium will cooperate with related journals such as Antioxidants, Frontiers in Microbiology, Frontiers in Immunology and the excellent articles will be recommended to be published in special issue collection. All the contents of the abstract are regarded as non-confidential. Please complete the confidential examination by the author’s unit before submission.
