Prof. Aleksander Patrzykat from the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) visited TIB on March 4, 2014. He gave a lecture entitled "Value Proposition Alternatives for the Industrial Cultivation of Microalgae in Canada” hosted by Professor Jibin Sun, the deputy director of TIB.
During the lecture, Professor Aleksander Patrzykat firstly introduced NRC, focusing on its’ research directions and the cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Science and Technology of China. Subsequently, Professor Partrzykat comprehensively introduced the project basis, sources of funding, academic branches and industrial application of NRC microalgae research. The lecture focused on microalgae-based biomass products’ manufacturing and export, demonstrating microalgae industries’ economic viability and the huge possibility of social benefits from microalgal biomass refining system.
Finally, Professor Partrzykat made a deep discussion with the researchers on the technical challenges during the process of research and development of microalgae biomass product and prospects for the cooperation in the future.
