The institute always takes enterprise requirements as the starting point in developing key industrial biotechnology. It also pays great attention to innovation in industrial biotechnology and promoting the transfer of research achievements in order to meet the needs of regional economic development and serve the new sustainable industrial system.

The institute has so far established cooperative relationships with morethan 160 enterprises from 25 provinces including COFCO, Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., Shandong Landian Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Tianjin Textile Group Co., Ltd., Tianjin Chunfa Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Tianjin Kingyork Biotechnology Co., Ltd., among others. The institute has carried out morethan 220 projects involving technology transfer, cooperative technology development, and commissioned technology development, etc..

To enhance core competitiveness of the cooperative enterprises and realize the coordinated development of production, reducation and research, the Istitute has established 16 joint laboratories with cooperative enterprises to promote the transformation of industrial biotechnology in industrial chemicals, biological medicine, health food and other fields. 

On cooperation with local government, the Istitute has established strategic partnerships with some provinces and citys to promote the transformation and development of local ecnomy. The Istitute has cooperated with Tianjin,Shouguang and other local governments in the areas around Bo Hai to estabilish “Bohai Rim Biobased Chemical Materials Industry demonstration base” which is becoming a center that gathering biochemical tecnology industralization on bio-chemicals and biobased chemical materials to improve the combination of the tecnological resources of CAS and the requirements of the industral development of Bohai Rim.
