Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, located in Tianjin, China, invites applications for Faculty/Group Leader positions at the professor level. The expected candidates should have qualifications as follows: (1) expertise in biological engineering, chemical engineering and related fields of modern biotechnology with solid training and experience in biological, chemical, engineering sciences and technology; or (2) outstanding research background with strong interest in industrial biotechnology-related research with exceptional academic or industrial record and potential for obtaining extramural funding.  

Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology was founded in 2009 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as part of a major drive for achieving scientific excellence in industrial biotechnology to benefit bioindustry. The mission of TIB is to develop upstream industrial process improvements in order to lessen the need for downstream pollution mitigation, thus promoting national economic growth and a better quality of life. TIB has three strategic goals, namely, substituting renewable bioresources for nonrenewable fossil resources; substituting clean bioprocessing methods forchemical methods; and raising the efficiency and productivity of industry through biotechnology. To achieve these goals, TIB focuses on R&D in several key disciplines: protein science and biocatalysis engineering; synthetic biology and microbial manufacturing engineering; and biosystems and bioprocess engineering.
