Research Interest

(1) Development of scalable microbial protein synthesis systems and green production processes for low-value raw materials, including the development of functional feed/food protein, and the research and industrialization of key application technologies.

(2) Key technologies for the biological synthesis of functional peptides, functional proteins, antioxidant products, and other nutritional substances, and the research and industrialization of key application technologies.

Education & Professional Experience

Le Gao, Associate Professor, Ph.D., graduated from Shandong University National Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology, currently serves as Associate Professor at Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Her research focuses on exploring the highly efficient conversion mechanisms of methanol and agricultural residues like straw by yeast and filamentous fungi. She has constructed a functional component library and regulatory element library of low-value feedstock metabolism through omics data mining. This involves omics data mining and the construction of functional component and regulatory element libraries for the metabolism of low-value feedstocks. Her innovative work includes the development of unsupervised machine learning models that accurately solve the optimal enzyme system composition based on lignocellulosic structural characteristics. This breakthrough significantly contributes to the production of functional nutrients, such as functional proteins/peptides, enzymes, and natural products, from low-value feedstocks. She has authorized 23 national invention patents, among which 8 were licensed or transformed, and has published over 30 papers as first/corresponding author in journals like Bioresour. Technol., Crit Rev Biotechnol., Biotechnol. Biofules, J.B.C., etc., and participated in publishing 1 English monograph. She has undertaken over 10 projects including National Key R&D Program, NSFC, 863 Program, Tianjin Science and Technology Program, and cooperation projects with Jilin Province.
