The platform laboratory provides comprehensive process support and development services for fermentation and product separation and purification. By integrating bioprocess big data and artificial intelligence technologies with fermentation and separation engineering, the lab advances key technologies in intelligent sensing, decision-making, and execution for industrial bioprocessing. It offers services such as rapid strain performance evaluation, media optimization, process optimization, scale-up, and process package development. The lab also supports the efficient industrialization of synthetic biology innovations, driving the growth of strategic emerging industries in bio-manufacturing. It offers flexible service models, including "shared kitchen ", "shared chef ", and "contract development-style", to meet diverse user needs.

In terms of equipment, the platform laboratory is equipped with fermentation and separation extraction systems of various scales and configurations, enabling the trial production of samples ranging from microgram to kilograms.

For strain fermentation performance verification, the lab is equipped with 48/96-well micro-fermentation devices with a 1mL capacity, allowing for high-throughput screening and validation of genetically modified strains, as well as high-throughput optimization and screening of target strains. For fermentation process development, the lab is equipped with 1L, 3L, and 5L multi-parameter, multi-scale fermentation analysis systems, as well as a parallel fermentation tank system with up to 32 units. These systems enable online sampling, analysis, data integration, and computation during the fermentation process, greatly improving process development efficiency and ensuring data reliability and stability.

For pilot-scale process development and process package design, the lab's specialized fermentation workshop houses a range of pilot fermentation tanks and production lines with volumes from 20L to 2000L, meeting the needs for pilot-scale process development and product sample manufacturing.

In the field of fermentation product separation and purification, the laboratory has established a complete post-processing technology system, including centrifugation, filtration, membrane separation, concentration and crystallization, granulation and drying, column chromatography, and liquid-liquid separation. Paired with DCS control and digital systems, this setup enables the development of separation and purification processes for various types of fermentation products—such as intracellular and extracellular macromolecules and small molecules, polar and non-polar compounds—and the development of continuous pilot-scale production process packages.

Additionally, the lab is equipped with automatic sampling systems, online Raman and near-infrared spectrometers, live cell analyzers, biochemical analyzers, and exhaust mass spectrometers. The use of these online sensors and analytical instruments significantly enhances the digitalization and intelligence of the fermentation process, enabling intelligent process control based on online monitoring. This significantly improves the overall level of intelligence in biomanufacturing processes.
