BioDesign Center

Introduction

BioDesign Center (BDC) specializes in developing databases, models, algorithms, and tools for industrial biotechnology applications. It manages the high-performance computing facility at TIB, offering services in computational power, software deployment, and maintenance. BDC is also responsible for establishing a data center for bio-manufacturing, providing services in data management, integration, and analysis. BDC collaborates closely with experimental biologists, delivering computational support for the design of enzymes, biosensors, metabolic pathways, and strain engineering strategies.

Technical Services

The Biodesign Center is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Institute's new generation of supercomputing system: Taihang I high-performance data and computing platform. The platform has been online since January 15, 2024, with a total investment of more than 35 million yuan, a total of 4,576 audits, and 150 smart acceleration cards. Provides 220 TFOPS CPU computing power + 312 TFOPS GPU computing power. It can support users in various scientific research and computing tasks, including sequence alignment, structure prediction, omics analysis, cell simulation and artificial intelligence algorithm development. The platform has provided services for 35 research groups within the institute, helping to improve the efficiency of scientific research work.
