On June 25, a delegation of over ten members from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) visited the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The visit was organized and coordinated by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Tianjin Medical University. Prof. ZHANG Xuecheng, the Deputy Director-General of TIBCAS, related scientists and Administrative department representatives attended the exchange.

During their visit, the delegation toured TIBCAS's Science and Technology Exhibition Hall and the National Center of Technology Innovation for Synthetic Biology, having insights into the institute's research areas, representative innovation achievements and international collaborations, etc. Beside, the attendees had exchanges and discussions on topics of mutual interest and future cooperation.

Established in 2009, the NRF serves as Korea's leading research management institution. The delegation comprised NRF officials, as well as experts and scholars from prominent Korean R&D institutions and universities, including the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Kyungpook National University, Seoul National University, and Dongguk University. This visit significantly enhanced the Korean scientific community's understanding of China's advancements in synthetic biology and biomanufacturing, thereby laying a solid foundation for future Sino-Korean cooperation in related fields.
