TIB-RWTH Joint Centre of Biotechnology
RWTH Aachen University is a top university in Europe, and its Institute of Biotechnology has important advantages in the development of customized next-generation biocatalysts. On September 3, 2021, TIB signed an agreement to co-build a biotechnology joint center with the RWTH Aachen University. Prof. Ulrich Schwaneberg from RWTH and Prof. ZHU Leilei from TIB were appointed as the Director and the Deputy Director of the Joint Center, respectively. Focused on industrial enzyme creation and building filamentous fungal cell factory, the joint center also gathers other famous organizations of Germany such as the Technical University of Munich, Technical University of Berlin, BIO.NRW, in forms of Joint R&D, industrial promotion, academic exchanges, and talent cultivation, providing a high-level cooperation platform for biomanufacturing between China and Germany.
