History

December 25, 2005: The Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences established the Tianjin Industrial Biotechnology R&D Base of the Institute of Microbiology.

2007: CAS decided to rename the Tianjin Industrial Biotechnology R&D Base of the Institute of Microbiology as the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology Research and Development Center (in preparation).

2008: CAS decided to rename the center as the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, CAS (in preparation), becoming a research institution directly under CAS.

March 11, 2009:The agreement on joint construction of the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, CAS was signed by the Tianjin Municipal Government and CAS.

February 2012: The Office of the State Commission for Public Sector Reform formally approved the establishment of the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, CAS.

November 29, 2012: The Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, CAS was formally established.
