The C1 Metabolism and Bioconversion Laboratory was established in 2023, led by Principal Investigator Dr. WANG Yu. The team focuses on the microbial metabolism and bioconversion of methanol and other C1 compounds. They work with both natural and synthetic methylotrophic microorganisms to develop advanced synthetic biology enabling technologies, including efficient genome editing and precise multi-gene expression regulation systems based on CRISPR and other tools. WANG Yu, Ph.D., Principal Investigator and Doctoral Supervisor. Dr. Wang earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Shandong University and his doctorate from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. After receiving his Ph.D. in 2016, he joined the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, where he served as Assistant Researcher and Associate Researcher before being exceptionally promoted to Principal Investigator in 2022.
