Recruitment Advertising for “Thousand Talents Program” of Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences

I. Qualifications and Relevant Requirements

Applicants should be internationally recognized in the following areas:

(1) Synthetic Biology; (2) Systems Biology; (3) Metabolic Engineering; (4) Biocatalysis; (5) Fermentation Engineering; (6) Biochemical and Bioprocess Engineering; (7) Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, with affinity to Biotechnology.

a. Recruitment Program for Innovative Talents (Long Term)

Applicants are required to be under 55 years of age who are willing to work in China on a full-time basis, with full professorships or the equivalent in prestigious foreign universities and R&D institutes, or with senior titles from well-known international companies.

b. Recruitment Program for Innovative Talents (Short Term)

The qualifications and relevant requirements are same to “Recruitment Program for Innovative Talents (Long Term) ” except that applicants are required to work in China at least 2 months for each year.

c. Recruitment Program for Young Professionals

Applicants engaged in scientific researches and below the age of 40, shall possess a PHD degree granted by prestigious overseas universities, with formal teaching and researching positions in overseas prestigious universities, institutions or enterprises, who will be able to work full time in China. As the elites among the peers in certain field, the young professionals shall have the potential of becoming leading figures in the future. Outstanding PHD students can be recruited in exceptional cases.

d. Recruitment Program for Foreign Experts(Long Term)

Applicants are required to be non-ethnic Chinese experts who are under 65 years of age, have his/her doctorate granted by overseas educational institutions and are able to work in China for 3 consecutive years with at least 9 months for each. Applicants are required to be full professorships or the equivalent in prestigious foreign universities and R&D institutes, or with senior titles from well-known international companies.

e. Recruitment Program for Foreign Experts(Short Term)

Apply qualifications and relevant requirements are same to long-term program for foreign experts except that applicants are required to work in China at least 2 months for each year.

II. Benefits and Welfares

a. Recruitment Program for Innovative Talents (Long Term)

1. Successful candidates will be offered a Research Fellow position ( i.e. Professor in equivalence)

2. Successful candidates will be supported with a start-up package (including start-up funding of 3 million RMB, competitive office/lab), housing allowance of 1-2.5 million RMB.

3. Successful candidates will be granted the priority to apply for the Tianjin talent program.

b. Recruitment Program for Innovative Talents (Short Term)

1. Successful candidates will be offered the Adjunct Research Fellow position.

2. Successful candidates will be supported with a start-up package (including competitive start-up funding, office/lab), housing allowance of 0.5-1 million RMB.

3. Successful candidates will be granted the priority to apply for the Tianjin talent program.

4. The salary and start-up funding will be offered on a candidate-specific basis upon individual negotiation.

c. Recruitment Program for Young Professionals

1. Successful candidates will be offered a Research Fellow position (i.e. Professor in equivalence)

2. Successful candidates will be supported with a start-up package (including start-up funding of 3-5 million RMB, competitive office/lab), housing allowance of 0.5-1.5 million RMB

3. For exceptionally outstanding candidates or the candidates whose research interest is in grave need of the institute, the salary and research funding will be offered on a candidate-specific basis upon individual negotiation.

4. Successful candidates will be granted the priority to apply for the Tianjin talent program.

d. Recruitment Program for Foreign Experts (Long Term)

1. Successful candidates will be offered a Research Fellow position ( i.e. Professor in equivalence)

2. Successful candidates will be supported with a start-up package (including start-up funding of 3-5 million RMB, competitive office/lab), housing allowance of 1-2 million RMB.

3. Successful candidates will be granted the priority to apply for the Tianjin talent program.

e. Recruitment Program for Foreign Experts (Short Term)

1. Successful candidates will be offered the Adjunct Research Fellow position.

2. The salary will be offered on a candidate-specific basis upon individual negotiation.

3. Successful candidates will be supported with housing allowance of 0.5-1 million RMB.

4. Successful candidates will be granted the priority to apply for the Tianjin talent program.

III. Application Procedure

Applicants need to submit a CV (should contain personal info, a description of the major research achievements, research interests), Reference letters from three experts, research plans, the need for start-up support conditions, along with the necessary supporting (proof) documents to liu_qi@tib.cas.cn.

Review of applications is on a rolling basis with no deadlines until all the positions are filled.
